The Great Depression was a time in history when just about everyone was broke a lot of people were homeless and a lot more were jobless. Hoover Was at the end of his presidential term and said that it was the American Government's job to deal with the social issues america was facing; things would eventually get better, Franklin D. Roosevelt became the President. Roosevelt , promising A New Deal, made things better for everyone. Roosevelt gave a better life for everyone, and gave artist federal recognition and funding. America got rid of its troubles through the radio, movies, and books: timeless classics came along like the Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck and Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
